Chuck Brown - Godfather of Go-Go - Street Naming Celebration 8-22-09




Chuck Brown, the Godfather of Go-Go, is having a street named after him this Saturday (8-22-09) in Washington DC.

The celebration / and street unveiling will be betweem 4-7pm at the intersection of 7th & T Streets, NW. It's free family event.

Following this event, there will be a concert at the 9:30 Club.


History:
Brown's musical career began in the 1960s playing guitar with Jerry Butler and The Earls of Rhythm, joining Los Latinos in 1965. Brown's early hits include "I Need Some Money" and "Bustin' Loose". "Bustin' Loose" has been adopted by the Washington Nationals baseball team as its home run celebration song. Brown also recorded go-go covers of early jazz and blues songs, such as "Go-Go Swing" Duke Ellington's "It Don't Mean a Thing If Ain't Got That Swing", "Moody's Mood for Love", Johnny Mercer's "Midnight Sun", Louis Jordan's "Run Joe", and T-Bone Walker's "Stormy Monday". He is the undisputed "Godfather of Go-Go".

Foo Fighters at the White House




The Foo Fighters will play a special Fourth of July party this Saturday. Guess Where? At the White House! The band will perform a short set as part of the annual festivities on the South Lawn.

Jimmy Fallon, Michelle Branch and the U.S. Marine Band also plan to play at the event.

Sheryl Crow Fri 7/3 at Barns at Wolftrap


Sheryl Crow is playing at the Barns of Wolftrap, in Vienna Va tomorrow night - 7/3.

This is a great way to kick off a 4th of July weekend in the nations capital. Sheryl Crow debuted her sixth studio album in 2008, Detours.
