New Years Eve 2009 - Washington DC

Phish - Charlottesville, VA 12/5 John Paul Jones Arena

I was able to catch the Phish show in Charlottesville, VA last night at the John Paul Jones Arena. They played two incredible sets.

Set 1: AC/DC Bag, Chalk Dust Torture, Stealing Time From the Faulty Plan, The Divided Sky, Ya Mar, Sneakin' Sally through the Alley, The Old Home Place, Cavern, Funky Bitch, David Bowie, The Wedge, Bold As Love

Set 2: Tweezer, Light, Piper,Free, Sweet Virginia, Harry Hood, Suzy Greenberg, Golgi Apparatus, Run Like an Antelope


One of the highlights from the Charlottesville Show was a Naked Guy who jumped on stage just as Ya Mar started. He got a few laps in around the stage before security carried him out. When Phish played "Run Like an Antelope" at the close of the show, they updated the lyrics to mention the Naked Guy.

Mid Atlantic Jazz Festival - MAJF - Feb 19th - 21st

The Jazz Academy of Music has announced that the first annual Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival (MAJF) will take place in Washington DC at The Hilton Washington DC/Rockville Hotel. The MAJF will offer Festival attendees an entire weekend of the finest local/regional artists, and national artists, jazz film screenings, jazz workshops and a myriad of other activities.

The MAJF should draw in large numbers of jazz fans (in the thousands) across the East Coast.
